Kivumu Community Garden – Phase 1 Harvest 2016

It is with great joy and excitement that we announce Wings of Hope for Africa’s new charitable program in the community of Kivumu, province of Bururi, in Burundi. We purchased 1 hectare of land in Kivumu to be turned into a community garden. Along with the land we have provided our participants with hoes, shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows.

The project will help 70 families per year to generate income through agriculture.  The first season had a yield of 3000kg (6,600 lbs) of potatoes! This project will run in 2 phases bi-annually, and we are eagerly looking to expand it to new sites.

We’re a registered charity dedicated to family welfare, empowering communities & developing self-sufficiency programs to end poverty in Burundi and Rwanda, East Africa, and in Calgary, Canada.
