Kivumu Fifth Harvest
It’s Harvest Time! Our long awaited fifth harvest at the Kivumu Community Garden is complete. This April, our sponsored families harvested an incredible 6 tonnes – that’s 6,000 kilograms – from our 1 hectare plot in the hills of the village of Kivumu. The families will now divide the harvest into three parts: crops to sell at the market, crops to eat at home, and crops from which to get the seeds for the next growing season.
The garden has made an enormous difference in the lives of our participants; the harvest will enable them to eat regular meals and have enough left over to supply a small business. Thank you so much to our sponsors who made this possible! If you would like to join and support our future self-sufficiency programs, please donate.
