Kivumu Community Garden – Phase 2 2016
We began the second phase of the Kivumu Community Garden in the fall of 2016. 35 new families were selected to participate, and are busy preparing our 1 hectare parcel for planting. Our self-sufficiency model is at work – the families will be planting seed potatoes from last season’s crops, and are using tools and training received from the previous group.
We also delivered 2 tons of fertilizer for the project. The garden has made an enormous difference in the lives of our participants – enabling them to eat regular meals and have enough left over to supply a small income. We hope to continue and expand these projects – making a big impact 1 person at a time.
